HOW
Originally known for founding the North London Ukulele Club in 2013, Margie has since founded Ukulittle®, a unique Early Years music education brand combining characters, stories, and ukulele early exposure.
The programme was developed and tested in real classrooms — including state primaries and independent nurseries across North London such as Kidz Kabin, St James Primary, and Martin Primary — before expanding into online formats and international workshops.
Drawing on years of research and real-world teaching, Margie’s method helps children play and express themselves freely using ukuleles, body rhythm, and structured imaginative play.
Ukulittle® resources are built for teachers
as well as children, blending play-based learning with creative expression and
musical development. Whether in a music hub, a school setting, or a home-learning environment, Ukulittle® is designed to nurture early musical confidence, creativity, and emotional resilience — providing an essential boost to the toolkit of both children and practitioners.
Ukulittle® was tested in real classrooms from state primaries to independent nurseries, proving that even first-time players can strum, sing and create within a single session.
Resources come ready for teachers: lesson slides, quick-start guides and optional live online support, so staff spend less time planning and more time making music.
Past and present collaborations and field tests have made the programme adaptable for schools, creative hubs, and cultural festivals — with new developments on the horizon in 2026 and beyond.
Ukulittle ® was formed eight years ago when Margie realised the untapped potential of teaching ukulele to preschool age children. Young children are brimming with enthusiasm, creativity and ideas that they want to share and Ukulittle ® builds on that to ensure that learning is done at their own pace and in their own unique way. Providing inspiration, useful resources and support, the Ukulittle ® method enables children to play spontaneously, making their own chord progressions and songs or even changing existing songs to a topic that is important to them at that moment.
In 2022, Margie launched her first free activity pack — designed to share music and creativity with families worldwide. With warm support from her early community,
she followed with a Christmas mini-collection. These materials laid the foundation for the Ukulittle® teaching resources now offered in live sessions and outreach projects. That early support continues to shape the brand’s evolution — and gratitude remains at the heart of its ongoing journey.
As time and budget allow, we’re storyboarding a stand-alone UkuLeela™
& friends mini-series of short, character-led clips. It aims to spark curiosity and welcome children and families into Flickerwick for laughter and play, acting as a jump-off point for music whenever they’re ready.
Ukulittle® scales easily, running small home workshops as well as booked ukulele parties in selected venues and StoryLabs that draw family crowds at community festivals.
Play-based learning meets structured growth: children craft their own chord patterns, move to rhythm and grow confidence you can hear.
